Tai Po Yellow Stone Pier | July Coral Rescue Workshop – Take you deep into the sea, cultivate and farm, and be a "sea farmer" together!

Description
This project aims to collect naturally shed coral fragments, reculture them in suitable natural environments, and transplant them back to damaged areas. The recultured coral fragments have a high survival rate and can effectively restore the coral area. This workshop will be taught by marine ecologist Jeffery, who will also provide practical activities to allow participants to experience and understand coral biology, the current situation of Hong Kong's coral communities, and actual restoration methods. Through expert sharing and simulations, you will be able to contribute to the protection of our marine resources.
Hong Kong has over 84 species of hard coral, with a diversity even greater than that of the Caribbean. They are mainly distributed in the eastern and northeastern waters, such as in the coral communities of Tung Ping Chau and Hoi Ha Wan Marine Park. These corals are crucial to the ecosystem, providing 25% of marine habitats in China, but they are currently facing challenges such as climate change, pollution, and development.
Past studies have shown that these corals can tolerate variations in temperature and salinity, but human activities such as coastal development and pollution have led to a decline in biodiversity, and water quality issues further threaten their survival. By participating in this event, you can assist in the construction and restoration of coral areas, improving the marine ecological environment.
